Went and exchanged the KVM Switch for one made by IO Gear. The manager of LD all but guaranteed that this would be the one that worked (not that I am going to go out on a limb and believe or anything).
Hooked it up and viola` the lag, she is gone. Tested it out with a quick game or two of UT3 of course. I think my best bet in the future is not to buy the suggested product that a certain LD employee suggests, unless of curse I would like to put my head up my ass as well. Maybe I would see life differently, of course I would have to keep my fly undone and it would be a one eyed perspective.
OK I am going to back off from making this a bash LD entry, or should I? I have bought many things from them and I must say that the return policy is what saves my ass every time. I think that is why I go back, if something breaks you just take it back. If something doesn't perform that great, you just take it back. The only problem with this is the price of gas. It costs money and time to make all those trips back and forth. I guess that's my only real bitch, and of course the one employee that works there now with his head up his ass.
Does anyone out there know of a good KVM Switch? I bought an active switch from London Drugs for $69 and it works, and there is now ghosting on the video, but I am getting mouse and keyboard lag. Like when you highlight some items by holding the ctrl key down and select with the mouse. Plus UT 3 is VERY ANOYING!
Let me know if anyone has a suggestion, and if possible WHERE it can be purchased from.
On the acquisition of Johan Hedberg: Don’t know what to say, I guess I should wait to see if this guy can play or not. I have never seen him play. I really think that (and I said this all season last year), what we need is one more superstar caliber player and we can have a Stanley Cup.
Oh well, I guess we will soon see. 23 days until the first Canucks game!
I am still having problems getting to userfriendly. I set the changes as directed by NetMaster to use the default list of IP ranges in
Or
If I log into my GG Blade and go to /etc/fw/ and vi the spoof file removing the 69.0.0.0/8 range manually, then restart the firewall. This works great too.
However either method doesn't produce and solution once shut down my system. On reboot I must go in and perform this all over again. I even tried copying the spoof file into /2/etc/fw/ . but this doesn't work either.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Most of you don't shut down their system as often as I do I know.
Not much to say about yesterday's men's championship at the club . I had the worst game I have ever played at Cultus, so bad I finished in last place, and they just happened to have a prize for that, so everyone knows I finished last. It is things like this that set me back in life, I know that it is only a game, but coming in last, and not being able to post a good number really bothers me. I have been shooting some really good numbers lately, so why not yesterday. And to beat all why the worst game ever at Cultus at the men’s championships? Hell I would have felt less embarrassed about the whole thing if I instead I had to wear pink tights.
It is a humbling sport even at the best of times but yesterdays performance leaves me thinking if I shouldn't move on to something else.
Lets just say it was a SHITTY weekend!
It wasn't pretty, but all of our foursome made it into the championship. It just seems to be the way that when you are trying to make the score it is far from being attainable.
Tomorrow I am just going to go play a fun round of golf and see where it leads me.
Had a very productive week at the SEP Workshop, some days better than others. I am not always optimistic (go figure), but I found it to be a very integral part of the big picture of “self employed”. I pointed out to William, the guest speaker on Goal Planning yesterday that if I only successfully fix six of the obvious problem areas that I recognized I will be so much more successful than I would be without. Some of these things are the little things that one over looks because they think they are insignificant; right down to the really important things one can overlook until it is too late. It was a well worth it week of knowledge.
This weekend is time to take a bit of a break, although I have some work that has come directly from this past weeks information (goal setting, marketing, customer service policy, other policy manuals etc), I am attempting to qualify for the men's championship at the club on Saturday afternoon with Bear, Bruce and another member. If we are successful we get to play in the men's championship on Sunday. Only the top 20 gross and top 10 net (plus ties) get to play. So let’s have some good mojo coming our way Saturday afternoon. I will post how we made out later in the weekend.
Busy this week at the SEP Workshop, so I can't promise much for updates, although you never know ( not that I rank so high on too many people's most online watched or read list).
So for tonight any ways, all I have is Dick!
Busy working away today on my business card layout, as well as a few other issues pertaining to TyMar. I had to make some adjustments to my Firewall (see Arc's entry for today). Other than that it was a pretty regular day, I think, although it is not yet over.
It is that kind of day, seems like I am jumping form one thing to another and not getting any one thing accomplished. Trying to get some things cleared up this week before i go to the SEP Workshop next week (it is a week long workshop where they go over things like advertising, marketing, business practices etc.).
Heading up to the club with Bear this afternoon, so that will be a welcomed break.
I mentioned the other day hiding under a rock with the new windows virus threat. Well the rock wasn't big enough, as I have to go over to a friend’s and fix their system. I was talking to Bear this morning and he was heading over to do the same for someone today. Point being that despite being fairly well protected myself, hiding under the rock can keep one's spare time to one's self. I really don’t have the time to go do house calls right now, but I am also no good at saying no so I am heading there Monday evening(first time we are both free).
Oh well looking forward to golf.
Unlike Jack Handy's "Deep Thoughts”, Muckhead's Crusty Shorts are ...
Ok it was an idea, be it ever so demented, it was an idea, a section of one's blog/chronicle/journal (whatever) designated to the little comments one would make during the day. Put up on the net for ridicule.
It was an idea, oh well I guess the plan for the day is to go hide under a rock until the coast is clear. There is a big virus out there you know. I was approached by people last night in London Drugs( because I looked like a computer person, funny, I must have had a chip showing or something, thought I put my case on before I left), wondering what they should do with the latest virus. I was tempted to tell them that I hide under a rock.
Ended up getting an active KVM switch that works just slick by the way.
Picked up one of my old school computers from the outlaws. This one, a Pentium II 300 MHz with 128MBs of RAMM, was the one of that last ones used when I attended UCFV. My outlaws would always be involved in the yearly upgrade for a very good price (usually free), so when they upgradedrecently, they gave it (their old one), back to me. A friend gave me a KVM switch and cables so I am all set up with a test computer.
So most of the day was spend cleaning out under my desk, making room for the other computer, and then installing the cables, switch, and WIn2K on the 20GB drive I put in it.
I am however getting some ghosting on my main computer, with a shielded cable, so I think I might need to go to a higher quality, possibly active KVM.
It's that kind of day for me. I think it is the rain. Don't get me wrong, we NEED rain, but it has me in a semi-comatose frame of mind. Feel like kicking back and having a power nap.
Pretty hum drum weekend, I was cut off from going to a friend’s on Friday, and had no golf on Saturday, which led to Sunday, which couldn't have been all that exciting as I don't remember much.
Got paid today, then proceeded to pay bills (and not all of them), and now I am broke. Sound familiar? I guess I should be grateful after all is said and done.
Last night's golf was Ok, but not anything to really write much about. Bear made some awesome shots which had him sitting with KP on 2 holes, and under normal play he would have won on at least one of them. Unfortunately Kevin Kleibe was playing last night, and for those that don't know him he is a local kid that was attending college down in the states on a golf scholarship. He shot a 5 under 28 on the front 9 to set a new men's night record low. He also drove the green on the 4th (playing about 320 last night). The long and the short of it, Bear didn’t win the KP's he held.
Highlight of the night, seeing a guy hit the outhouse located off the 6th tee box with his shot from the 3rd tee, almost a "bole in one".
Another day has come, very early at that. Tyler wanted to sleep in the tent again last night so I gave in and out we went. We played SimCity on my Palm m130 until about 2:00am this morning. It was fun for both of us, although I must admit, it is not exactly roughing it.
Got up this morning and spent $653(Canadian Funds), on WISE Installer as it is getting closer to that magical date when I am finished my first product and can put it up on the net for sale. It will probably be the end of the month before I get everything done.
Heading up to men’s night at the club tonight with Bear, and by the looks of it it will be a hot one this afternoon. With any luck one of us can pull off a nice shot and win something. More on that later on this evening.
Attended my first SEP Program breakfast this morning. Designed as a meeting amongst members of the program, it is supposed to be a place to network, be introduced to new members, and a chance to introduce one’s self. Well it was some of that, but to me, and for my business it was a lot less. Sure it is great to meet people, and I met a very nice person that is opening a dance studio (thinking of getting Marlee into dance lessons), but from what I saw it was a chance to do not much more than schmooze.
Maybe I am missing something, but I am just not into that. I like to talk, this chronicle is testament to that, and of course anyone who has met me knows it. Talking in my case usually has something behind it, like meaning, entertainment, value, etc. I guess I should wait until I have been to a few before passing judgment.
Thanks to Foz for this one.
A venerated sage with vast power and knowledge, you gently guide forces around you while serving as a champion of the light.
Judge me by my size, do you? And well you should not - for my ally is the Force. And a powerful ally it is. Life greets it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us, and binds us. Luminescent beings are we, not this crude matter! You must feel the Force around you, everywhere.
Wow, what an awesome weekend. It all started Friday night with the Night Golf at The Club . Shaaron and I paired up with her friend Tracy and her sister Kelly. I snapped this picture in the dark, but you can clearly still make out the glow stick apparel that we were wearing. The gist of it is that you need the glow sticks to see not only your fellow golfers, but you need one on your golf bag because you can loose it even if it is a few feet away in the dark.
The glow balls are kewl when you hit them, following the tracer in the sky. We had a few incidents where the glow sticks came out of the balls. You try searching for a clear plastic ball in the dark, it is not easy. It was a blast though, fun was had by all. We golfed until about 12:15am then prizes where handed out.
Sunday we attended our friends annual pig barbeque (held on their anniversary every year, attended by about 100 friends and relatives), that proved to be every bit as good as previous years. This year was their 25th so it was special as well. This picture here is of Mel, the Host and Pig Chef. There is something about roasting a whole pig as compared to cooking separate body parts that makes it taste better.
The kids had fun as well; they have a kid’s pool and a trampoline that they fill with water. We had to force Marlee away and into dry clothes after hours of playing in the water, and Tyler had fun playing Bochi (spelling?) and eating salmon.
Just a fabulous weekend, now it is back to work.
Last night the kids and I finally got everything in place to try and sleep in the tent. I set it up in the backyard, just a little four man unit. Marlee didn't last very long, but Tyler and I managed to rough it out for the night. It was surprisingly cold, a nice change form the heat.
Tonight is the big Night Golf Tournament at The Club , Shaaron, her friend Tracy, and Tracy's sister Kelly, and myself are making up our foursome. It's a Texas scramble played in the dark. They put glow sticks on the pins, and you play with a ball that has a mini glow stick in it so you can see it fly through the air. It is a blast, I will have my camera with me, although since it is played when it is dark it may be early tomorrow before I have any pics up.
