Ok, I am totally pleased with this morning's weight training. Like I mentioned yesterday I hired a professional trainer to introduce me to, and put me on an approved program to suit my specific needs and capabilities. Terrina Mason is great, and yet in the same aspect a real Weight Nazi (in a good way).
We started by measuring me all over (mind out of the gutter Arc ), so we can measure results every 6 weeks. I am also supposed to stay away from the scale, as I will be up and down at first.
It took almost 3 hours (mainly because I did some extra cardio), and I was tired afterwards. She suggested since I am on Atkins to eat / cheat and have a complex carbohydrate before the workout though. I can see why too, because I ran out of energy, induction Atkins doesn't mesh too well with this program. So I can cheat, and have a piece of fruit I figure before the workout.

Posted by: Arcterex at April 6, 2004 02:31 PMUmmm, if you are going to cheat on Atkins email them at atkins.com and find out what they recommend.
You will screw up the ketosis reaction by enducing complex carbs if you are not carful.
Another approach may be to reduce your carb intake for the entire day... and load it in the meal before the workout. Only issue is you really should be working out BEFORE a meal... and not after. More importantly getting on the 'carb rollercoast' is EXACTLY what you want to avoid... and you might end up craving more carbs... or getting even more tired from cheating.
Check out your Atkins book. It talks about how carb loading destroys the entire ketosis reaction if not handled correctly.
Posted by: SilverStr at April 6, 2004 04:02 PMI have read all three books and also have the cookbook and the smaller Atkins kit (which comes with recipes and such). I am still going to stay on the Atkins, and on the Induction, what Terrina was pointing out is that having eggs before a workout might not be the right choice. Something that has higher complex carbohydrate content would be better suited before the workout, or at least higher carb content period. I can't remember what section or which book but it was pointed out that some adjustments like this might be necessary. I still plan to stay on the induction but just to eat differently on workout mornings.
For example, today’s carb count for all meals is 12 carbs plus two 2 carb snacks, I still have room to insert a few more carbs into the breakfast since I will be working them off immediately anyway. In short I guess you could say I will not be carb-loading, just balancing my intake to help with my energy level during the workout. I will still be maintaining a 20 carbs or less lifestyle for at least 3-6 more months.
