Catch-Up on Things Part III

Spidey
One of the things that my son Tyler and I have been doing is continuing on our hikes. We have gotten to the point where we can make it up Teapot hill with only one stop to catch our breath. This picture was of a spider’s web that was caught by the sunlight and looked very kewl. We figure that we will do Teapot a few more times then do Lindamen Lake , which is one step up in difficulty. It also excellent lake to fish in as not a lot of people get up there.

Our eventual goal is to hike Elk Mountain , which is rated as difficult, and will take most of the day to complete. Of course pictures will follow as each of these hikes take place.

Also, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a group hike to Lindamen Lake in September. The plan would be simple, get out in the wilderness and get some fresh air. Let me know.

We did Elk Mountain a few years ago... it's actually not all that bad (granted, I judge this against hiking in the Rockies now). If you're feeling courageous after getting to the top of Elk Mountain, you can continue on to Thurston, which is right behind it. We never managed to do Thurston -- when we hiked up Elk, it was late in May, and we met snow at the top (too slippery to go any further).

I did Mount Cheam (lady peak) today. Apparently it's not as steep as Elk, but it's about 2 hours up, 1.5 down. Up was pretty brutal since I'm quite out of shape, but you forget about that once you reach the peak.

Last time I went up Cheam was also around this time, but there was a LOT of snow. Combined with some heavy cloud/fog, we lost our way. The top was cold (about 0 deg C not including windchill).
